We believe that Energy Auditing is central to every programme of energy conservation activity.
There's an old and very true adage that "you can't manage what you can't measure" - and this is very true as far as energy in your home is concerned.
There are professional schemes for making very detailed assments of a building's energy usage - and these are undertaken by trained professionals. The resulting Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is a legal requirement for certain types of building.

Our idea is to take a very pragmatic approach to energy performance assessment and use a 'cut down' version of the full assessment techniques - and one which will highlight the most important areas for improvement.
We're talking to the Energy Saving Trust about creating a local team of people who can do these assessments in Wharfedale. We'd like to create an Energy Auditing tool which can be used on houses with solid walls -- like so many of our houses.
Here's an example
of what a SURE
energy performance assessment
might look like.

If you would like to be able to carry out a basic energy audit of a community building then this course will show you some of the processes involved. This includes monitoring of consumption and identifying the potential savings that could be made through the introduction of energy efficiency improvements..
